Tattoo removal lasers produce specific wavelengths of light that have been proven to be attracted to and absorbed by certain colors of tattoo ink. When the laser energy is applied for the right length of time, at the right level of energy, and in the proper wavelength, the tattoo ink is selectively targeted. No harm is done to the surrounding skin. The tattoo ink particles absorb the laser energy, heat up, and shatter into smaller ink particles.
In the days and weeks following a laser spa treatment, the body’s immune system flushes away the shattered ink particles, causing the tattoo to gradually fade.
There is a level of discomfort with laser tattoo removal. This will vary from person to person and is dependent on the location of your tattoo. Our team will provide topical numbing and other measures to make sure you are comfortable before, during, and after your spa treatment.
You will most likely need a series of spa treatments (ranging from 3-12) for full removal. The age of the tattoo, the colors of ink used, the density of the ink, the location on the body, your medical history, and any pre-existing scarring will determine the number of treatments needed. During your initial consultation, your clinician will develop a strategy and provide realistic expectations.
With each spa treatment, more and more of the ink shatters. You will notice more progressive fading after each session. How you care for your skin and fading tattoo between these spa treatments is imperative to your skin’s health and results.
Treatments can be scheduled 6-12 weeks apart and sun protection must be used between spa treatments.
