Like many meaningful careers, Laura's journey to massage therapy began with a specific catalyst that changed the course of her life. Unfortunately, this was the loss of her mother, sister, and multiple aunts and cousins to cancer. After seeing the hardships her loved ones have faced both physically and mentally, she knew she wanted to embark on a career that allowed her to bring care and relief to people going through similar journeys.
Laura's education began with obtaining her Associates Degree in massage therapy from Globe University in Eau Claire. Being a natural and gifted caretaker, she immediately took to the transformative aspects of massage, which allowed her to make her clients feel safe, relaxed, and calm. In addition, she loved seeing the improvements that massage had on her clients' chronic headaches, pain, stress, and sleep quality. Laura soon after started her own business, Paradise Massage. She feels honored to have earned her clients' trust and fully appreciates that her treatment table may be one of the only places they find refuge and relaxation in their busy lives!
With her Oncology Trained Massage Therapist certification, she is able to work directly with cancer patients and help manage their symptoms of nausea, pain, fatigue, stress, and even depression. Studies show that certain massage techniques can assist in the breakdown of scar tissue and even reduce lymphedema as well.
While working with these populations Laura truly began to understand the power of touch. Touch is important to all people, but those going through cancer treatments often lack any physical contact because loved ones are oftentimes afraid they will hurt or injure them. This, in turn, can also lead to depression and feelings of isolation. Laura not only respects and acknowledges the impact of touch in these instances, she actively seeks out these clients because she feels so strongly about the importance of it. We are all here to help each other on our journeys, whether it be through health or sickness. Laura chooses to do this through her hands and her heart.
Like the rest of her team at Eau Claire Body Care, Laura is proud to be a part of a collective group of women in business who are truly advancing the health, appearance, and well-being of other women. She loves the collaborative and supportive atmosphere. It is a family dynamic which she hopes her clients feel as well.
When you can't find Laura at Paradise Massage within Eau Claire Body Care causing clients to fall asleep from pure bliss and relaxation or enhancing their eyes with an Elleebana Lash Lift, you can find her spending time with her beloved family or enjoying a long self-reflective walk. She has two accomplished daughters of whom she is immensely proud. One is starting her career in the editing world and the other is pursuing her education at UW-Madison. Laura loves to unwind with knit and crochet and thinks these activities keep her hands nimble for you! She also loves experiencing the world and fostering great new memories through travel.
